Capcom Reveals Strider
Comic-Con 2013 underway in San Diego and Capcom took the opportunity to revive an old friend. Strider was apparently one of those hallowed arcade games in the late 80’s and early 90’s and even had some console outings on PS1. Now the publisher is bringing it back with the help of Double Helix – a developer currently also working on bringing Killer Instinct back.
The game has been described as a 2.5 side-scrolling platformer and is due out in early 2014 for Xbox One, PS4 , PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

“The year is Meio: 048, and Hiryu, a young but deadly assassination expert is out to eliminate Grand Master Meio,” reads the game’s description.
The new Strider game was described as brand new and nonlinear with a Castlevania: Symphony of the Night-style structure.
In a post to Capcom’s blog, the company said the new Strider will feature “high-speed Cypher combat,” as well as various unique Cypher abilities that players can earn throughout the game. The game will also see the return of robot allies, Capcom said.
You can check out the reveal trailer above and head on down for a solid seven minutes of gameplay. The game certainly looks pretty with its stylised visual aesthetic.
