An Extended, Sneaky Look At Spies Vs. Mercs
If there’s is one thing you most definitely need to be excited about when Splinter Cell: Blacklist drops later next month, it’s the return of “Spies Vs. Mercs”. The franchise’s signature multiplayer mode is making a return with a few tweaks here and there, and the result looks like an incredible addictive and challenging modes for online players to sink their teeth into.
The matches take place with two teams for four, one comprised of Spies and one of Mercenaries. Spies have the traditional third-person view, reduced ammo and a plethora of stealth abilities, while Mercs are confined to a first-person view while packing some serious heat. Spies have to have certain nodes and stay within the vicinity of the node while hacking to score, with Mercs have to basically prevent this.

It’s simple enough to understand, but with the new loadouts, perks and weapons it becomes a bit of a balancing act for players. Also, the new-found verticality of these maps fits right in, and the fluidity of the gameplay looks extremely enticing.
Splinter Cell: Blacklist is set to launch on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 at the end of August.
