This Week In Indie: PS3/Vita Hotline Miami Fever, And You Influence The Game With TUG
In this week’s edition we take a look at the newest release of Hotline Miami for the PS3 and PS Vita. We also discuss and explore the new game world of TUG, a multiplayer open-world sandbox RPG, where you directly influence how the game world and your character evolves.

After great critical success and popularity, Hotline Miami has finally been released on PSN for PS3 and PS Vita. At eGamer, we reviewed the game and were greatly impressed by the game. The PS3 and PS Vita ports of the game were handled by Dutch developers Abstraction Games, and both versions are priced at a uniform price across the board. These are the prices as follows: £6.49 in the UK, €7.99 in Europe, and $8.99 in the U.S. The cheapest buying option for Hotline Miami is still on PC. Regardless, it is great to see the game making a debut on Sony platforms.
In the PS3 and PS Vita versions, you’ll be using the analogue sticks to aim and shoot at enemies, instead of a mouse and keyboard. Obviously you won’t have the accuracy that a keyboard and mouse affords you, but the game still runs perfectly well. The PS Vita version has some interesting additions where you can lock on to enemies by using the Vita’s touch screen. The PlayStation version of Hotline Miami will come with a new mask called ‘Russell the Raging Bull’. The mask replaces the typical vibrant colour scheme with monochromatic visuals, which is cool to play with. Hotline Miami is available on the PlayStation Store, so go and give it a try if you’re at all interested.
The next game we’re going to talk about is called TUG, a multiplayer open-world sandbox RPG, which has exceeded its Kickstarter goal and is currently going into solid development. What is intriguing about TUG is that it will be procedurally generated using the developers, Nerd Kingdom’s, own in-house modified engine. TUG is being developed by Nerd Kingdom, in conjunction with academics from across the Social Sciences, in the hopes of creating a game that uses Social Sciences to directly involve players in the game’s design. Meaning that as this is an open-world RPG, with TUG players will be able to change the world around them, but also evolve their characters depending on the types of quests and activities they pursue will affect their player character. The game world will conform to your own behavioural tendences, and depending on how you interact with other players the game world will influence your position in the world as it develops and evolves.
