The First Fable Is Getting A Stunning HD Remake
The Fables series really is no longer what it used to be. With each sequel, the games progressively got a little worse and worse, eventually culminating in a Kinect-only title that was hard to recommend. Thing is, the series did not start with such little promise, and in fact the very first Fable still ranks as one of my favourite RPG’s of all time. I know I’m not the only one who feels that away about Lionhead’s first Fable entry, which means that I’m certainly not the only one excited about their recently announced HD Anniversary edition.
Fables Anniversary will be a complete remastering of the original Fable. The remake will utilise Unreal Engine 3 for vastly improved lighting effects while the rest of the title will receive a full 1080p HD visual upgrade. On top of that, the Anniversary edition will include the expansion, The Lost Chapters, as well as include new achievements, a brand new UI and of course, Smartglass support. This truly is a remastering that Fable fans have been waiting for, and seeing an HD render of antagonist Jack of Blades in the teaser trailer just kicked the hype into overdrive.

You can check out a quick side-by-side comparison of what Anniversary will look like compared to the 2004 title, and it’s clear that the differences are pretty extreme.
Fable Anniversary will release exclusively on the Xbox 360 later this year, with Lionhead stating that they will push to support the console well after the One has launched.
