Remember That Warhammer 40K MMO? It’s Still Happening
Can you believe that we’re still dealing with some of the fallout after THQ’s closure last year? Most of the bids on the franchises the publisher owned were dealt with early this year, but we still don’t know what has happened to some of the fan favourites. One of those happened to be the Warhammer 40K MMO, which had not really been shown off prior to the closure. Well its good news this morning for those still hanging onto some hope, as Warhammer 40K: Eternal Crusade has been announced.
Only, it’s being developed by a division of the studio that created the not so awesome Naughty Bear. Yeah, I’m not sure how that happened either.

Regardless, Eternal Crusade will be the first MMO set in the Warhammer 40K universe, borrowing quite a few gameplay elements for the rather awesome shooter, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine. The MMO will feature over-the-shoulder shooting mixed with brutal melee combat in a persistent world that features four major factions: Space Marines, Elders, Orcs and Chaos. Players will be able to customize their character, as expected, as well as customize their weapons. Mounts and vehicles will also feature, and developers Behaviour Interactive see a universe filled with players all fighting over resources and territory.
It certainly sounds like a different approach to the MMO than I’m sure most were expecting, but it does sound rather fun. Or maybe that’s just because I played Space Marine very recently and enjoyed it far too much.
Either way, Warhammer 40K: Eternal Crusade will release on PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2015.
