Prey 2 Could Be Getting A Second Chance With The Dishonored Developers
Prey 2 has had a rocky development cycle. After being announced as a new direction for the franchise, the title quickly disappeared, with some even claiming that it had been cancelled and left out in the cold. Bethesda insisted that the title was just on hold for the time being, but a new report suggests that development of the sequel has now been handed over to Dishonored developers, Arkane Austin, who have been given the chance to restart the entire project.
According to the source who spoke to Kotaku, all of Human Head’s work on the anticipated sequel has been tossed out, giving Arkane Austin a completely clean slate to work with. Apparently, this decision is not sitting well with developers over at Arkane, but management has told its employees not to look at the game as another Prey title, but rather something more like System Shock. So, in fact, the game from Arkane could end up being something entirely new and different.

Prey 2 was announced in 2011, with a playable demo debuting in 2012. The game was delayed during the same year due to quality issues, and since then it’s been nothing but a sharp dive downwards for the Human Head production. This new look at Prey 2, or whatever Arkane are turning it into, is still a good three years away from debuting, with Bethesda apparently pencilling in a 2016 reveal. That’s rather far away if you ask me.
Of course, Bethesda has declined to comment on any of these rumours, but it sounds like a logical move for a title that was seriously not impressing anyone.
