New Details Revealed On The Order: 1886
Ready at Dawn and SCE Santa Monica Studio’s new PS4 exclusive IP, The Order 1886, was revealed at E3 this year during Sony’s conference. Unfortunately, due to the reveal being a cinematic trailer, we were left not knowing much about the game itself. That has now changed thanks to a recent interview.
The interview was published on the PlayStation Blog, where Ready At Dawn co-founder Ru Weerasuriya revealed new details about the game. The link to the full interview is in the source below.

The game is a third person action adventure title with shooting mechanics. Weerasuriya referred to it as a “a linear story-based game… what we call a ‘filmic experience’.”
The Order: 1886 will be set in an alternative history that blends Victorian-era London with modern technology and mythological monsters.
Weerasuriya, commenting on the game being set in London, stated: “It has a very interesting history, particularly at the end of the 19th century during the Industrial Revolution.
“There are obviously some things we’re going to put in there that don’t exist, and we’ve moved certain locations a bit, but… you’ll be interacting with real people, real events and real places.”
Weerasuriya didn’t say much about the gameplay, but he did claim that “moment-to-moment gameplay is really not what you might expect. We didn’t want to make it single-tone, where you rely on one single thing in expense of the rest”.
Ready At Dawn is notable for getting the best out of the PSP with God of War titles Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta, and Weerasuriya stated that the developer wants to push the PS4 in very much the same way that it did Sony’s portable platform.
“We’ve done well on a single platform. We’ve tried to push the boundaries of what could be done. That’s the same mentality we’re bringing to PS4. We’re working on a single platform – we want to push it, we want to get everything out of it, and hopefully that’s exactly what we’re going to do – milk it for all it’s worth.”
The game has no release date at this point in time.
