E3 2013: Get Your First In-Depth Look At Thief Gameplay In This Demo
At E3 2013 the Thief reboot from Eidos Montreal was one of the highly anticipated next-generation games to showcase itself on the floor. You can check out a full 11 minute gameplay demo above.
To be honest, after watching it, I really like the movement and stealth and slow pace to the game, as is true to the spirit of the franchise, but I find myself disliking the combat quite strongly. I know it’s optional for players who don’t want to stick just to stealth, but the system itself seems to break what Thief is about, with you able to take on numerous enemies at once with a cheap slow-mo system.

That said, I do understand that demos are often shown off either on the easiest difficulty setting or with some developer adjustments made, so hopefully on harder difficulties or in the final game it works out pretty well. I do love the stealth though, and the graceful way Garrett moves. It’s awesome in motion.
The game doesn’t have a release date yet, but it should be out in 2014 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
