Rocksteady Has Faith In Batman: Arkham Origins
It came as quite a surprise when Batman: Arkham Origins was announced that Rocksteady Games, the studio that produced two great Batman titles, would not be developing the latest in the series – Batman: Arkham Origins. The prequel is instead being done by Warner Bros. Montreal which boasts several former Rocksteady employees.
Sefton Hill, director of the first two Arkham games, expressed his confidence in the new development team in an interview with CVG.

“Rocksteady is excited to see WB Games Montreal developing the prequel to the Batman Arkham franchise,” he said.
“We are confident this talented team will craft a fantastic experience, bringing the origins of the Arkhamverse to life.”
Hill’s interview gave Origins’ creative director Eric Holmes a platform to talk about the decision to create a prequel rather than a sequel.
“It gives us the opportunity to refresh things a bit. Refresh characters, refresh ideas, refresh the dynamic between Batman and other characters, and refresh the world, too,” Eric Holmes said.
“Batman hasn’t become the character that we know and are very familiar with.”
Meanwhile Rocksteady is working on a new, secret project which is rumoured to be the silver-age Batman game which was believed to be releasing this year but may in fact only be releasing next year for next-gen consoles.. Personally, the decision to go with a prequel prevents WB Montreal from infringing on Rocksteady’s established canon while also giving them the leeway to change things up and have a bit more creative freedom.
