Not Only Is Microsoft Developing A “Smartwatch”, But The Xbox Team Is In Charge
I’m not entirely sold on all these reports regarding smartwatches. In fact, I’m not entirely sold on the idea of a smartwatch yet, but that could change when companies like Apple and now Microsoft start showing them off. According to a report on The Verge, former Microsoft employees have been working on a Microsoft branded smartwatch for nearly over a year.
What’s more interesting is that these employees are former Xbox and Kinect staffers, suggesting that the Xbox division is in fact behind the development of the watch. That could mean that this is more of an Xbox Smartwatch than a regular piece of consumer tech.

According to the report, the watch began as an accessory for fitness Kinect titles, but eventually evolved into a product of it’s own. There’s nearly next to nothing else about the project, but I’m sure most of us can picture a watch running a modified version of Windows 8 on it.
Whether or not smartwatches are the next big step is yet to be seen, but the possibility of a gaming watch does intrigue me.
