Microsoft Planning New Windows Release In June
Wait, didn’t Microsoft just release a new OS package? Windows 8 has only been out for a few months, receiving praise and backlash in equal measure from varying types of PC users, but according to a report Microsoft is already prepping a new OS release. Well, not in the way you might think.
It seems like Microsoft is slowly moving away from OS releases every few years, with Windows 8.1 apparently being the next OS offering from the company. Instead of massive changes coming with a new version of Windows, this new strategy will allow Microsoft to make small changes over annual OS releases. Windows 8.1 is apparently the finished product of what was known as Windows Blue at one point or another.

This approach to OS upgrades is very similar to what Apple does with OSX, with updates coming in varying sizes. According to The Verge, Microsoft is planning the first Windows 8.1 public preview in June as a part of the Build Developer Conference. The company has yet to officially announce Windows 8.1, but have confirmed that Windows Blue will be part of the Build Developer Conference, with the build releasing at the same time.
Whether or not Windows Blue and Windows 8.1 are the same thing is the question now.
