God Of War: Ascension Cost How Much?
God of War III was a high budget game, at an expense of around $35 million it cost a little bit more than the arm and leg which Kratos rips off his enemies more often than he takes a breath. By the natural progression of things, 2013’s God of War: Ascension would surely have cost more in an attempt to make it bigger and better, right? Right.
Speaking to 20 Minuten, via Google Translate, lead producer Whitney Wade has said that Kratos’s latest adventure had “a mid double-digit million amount”.

Assuming it cost more than GoW III that puts the game’s costs at somewhere between $40 and $50 million. Modern Warfare 2 cost around the same with subsequent CoD titles reportedly costing more. These figures are purely for development though with marketing on games such as Modern Warfare 2 setting Activision back an astronomical $200 million.
Despite these increased costs, Ascension was regarded by most as underwhelming and an unnecessary appendage to the series. In many regions it actually under-performed.
