Quantic Dream Confirms Development Of A PS4 Title
Quantic Dream’s latest narrative adventure, Beyond: Two Souls, is only hitting shelves come this October, but that hasn’t stopped founder David Cage from confirming that the studio is hard at work on a PS4 title as well. Speaking to Gamespot, Cage confirmed rumours that the studio was working on a PS4 title, saying that the studio had a head start when it came to developing the engine for their new title.
According to Cage, some of Beyond’s engine was actually built on the PS4’s infrastructure, with Quantic Dream gaining access to dev kits very early in the development cycle.

“Because of our relationship with Sony we had access to development kits on PlayStation 4 very early on, we started developing [Beyond’s] engine on PlayStation 4 with crazy features that were usually reserved to CG films. We were implementing them on PlayStation 4 thinking that it would already be a challenge, which it was, but at the same time we realised that some of these features could be implemented on PlayStation 3.”
This new title will still retain Quantic Dream’s focus on narrative, but Cage was hesitant to say anything else, simply stating that this new game is “incredibly exciting, it’s one of the strongest concepts we’ve had at Quantic Dream and we’re really excited about it.”
When asked about the engine demoed at the PS4 Announcement, Cage had this to say.
“It’s the engine of the next game. It’s the technology. It’s not a character from the next game but it is the technology we’re going to use.”
If you recall what Cage had to show on stage during the event, then you should at least be getting excited about how stunning this new title will look in their new engine. Yesterday Quantic Dreams released some more gameplay footage of Beyond: Two Souls, which will release in October this year on PS3 exclusively.
