Origin Reaches A New Milestone
No, it’s not a record number of suicides or keyboards driven through monitors but actually something positive…or not. Depending on what perspective you look at it from. From EA’s perspective, Origin has more users than ever before. To the average gamer, Origin has more victims and lives in its hands than ever before. I’m tending towards the latter just because it’s more dramatic. Who doesn’t like drama? Maybe thespians, they’re an odd bunch.
Origin, EA’s online service has now reached over 40 million users worldwide. The service gained 2 million users in January of 2013 alone and with SimCity grew by another 1.3 million. Of course, pretty much none of them are there by choice so it’s like the US bragging about how many inmates they have in Gitmo or North Korea telling us that there are more unhappy people in that miserable place than ever before.

Maybe I’m sounding just a little biased. There is legitimate good that comes out of EA’s success because as a thank you to gamers there will be a Player Appreciation Sale with up to 70% off on selected games. Keen for more good news? It was discovered earlier today that Origin contains a quirky little exploit which allows PC’s to be hijacked.
