Next-Gen Will Be Better For PC Developers – Crytek
We’ve already heard that the PS4 was designed with developers in mind and therefore Sony did away with the alien architecture they had going on in the PS3 in favour of something more familiar and PC-like to make developing for the console easier and to make it far easier to work with. Of course with a power boost comes a small closing of the gap between console and PC capabilities too but that probably won’t last for too long.
Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli has said some things and almost said some things regarding the imminent generation of consoles and it makes for interesting if rather elementary reading. In it he talks about the next-gen’s architecture being more PC-like and thus giving PC devs the upper hand.

In an interview with Official Xbox Magazine, Yerli said, “I think the next console generation is going to be more a mix of the top devs – they’ll be much more PC-driven this time around. In fact, I believe – oh, I can’t talk more about that. Let’s say this: PC devs will be much more comfortable than last gen console devs.”
He went on to say that it has been difficult for PC-focussed devs to get to grips with consoles and the upcoming generation of consoles should be something of a Godsend. He also had to to stop himself short before spilling any secrets.
