Cyberpunk 2077 Will Feature Multiplayer
Yesterday we heard that CD Projekt RED, developers of the incredible Witcher franchise, were considering a multiplayer component for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which is set to release late next year. While they said they’re still considering early ideas, CD Projekt RED have confirmed that their other title currently in development, Cyberpunk 2077, will have a mutliplayer component.
It seems like every time we hear something about this title, it’s something new or exciting being added. We’ve already heard that brand new software will be running the next-gen title, and that the developers are completely focused on creating a massive open-world for players to explore. Now, in a recent interview with Eurogamer, CD Projekt RED’s managing director Adam Badowski spoke about some of the single-player elements that are being added, as well as what their plans are for multiplayer.

“It will be a story-based RPG experience with amazing single-player playthroughs, but we’re going to add multiplayer features.”
“The first and most important environment for Cyberpunk is the city, obviously. But not only the city: you can expect some more environments in the Cyberpunk game. We want to start in the Night City, which is cool. And yes it will be an open world game as well.”
Considering we haven’t seen any gameplay yet, it’s hard to guess what CD Projekt RED is planning for this new multiplayer component. What makes it even more exciting is that this is the first multiplayer that CD Projekt RED will release, assuming the Witcher 3 will ship as a single-player only experience.
Cyberpunk 2077 is still a few years from launching, with The Witcher 3 definitely launching before it, so CD Projekt RED still have a ton of time to implement whatever ideas they have for Cyberpunk 2077’s multiplayer. Good or bad idea? Give us your opinions below.
