A New Vault Hunter Is Coming To Borderlands 2
We’re all still waiting for the final piece of DLC Borderlands 2 has to offer (for this season at least), but that’s not what Gearbox Software were teasing at SXSW during the weekend. During a panel interview, Gearbox teased a new Vault Hunter that would be soon joining the five already on Pandora.
“Deep beneath Pandora, an experiment has escaped. Bandits beware, a new Vault Hunter is coming. More mayhem awaits.”

From the short tease it seems like this new hero will have a melee focus, much like Brick from the original Borderlands. There’s no name or release date attached, but Gearbox franchise director Matt Armstrong said that “DLC is announced on a very tight schedule, and I don’t think you’ll have to wait long until you see that character.” However, Gearbox head Randy Pitchford clarified on his Twitter account that this does not inherently mean that his new character will be part of the Season Pass that still only has one episode of DLC left.
This isn’t the first time Gearbox have suggested that there will be more content after the Season Pass has run it’s course, which is fantastic news considering just how easy it is to get lost in Pandora all over again. The last character released for Borderlands 2 was the Mechromancer, and while a lot of people liked her I never really felt all that engrossed in her special ability. Maybe this new character, with all his apparent melee flair, will be better suited to a lot of people’s styles.
