Dark Souls Knows How To Deal With Piracy

Dark Souls release today all the way over in Japan, and while we will still have to wait a few weeks to get out hands on this brutally challenging RPG, developers From Software have made a statement on how they are going to handle piracy.
For those of you who choose to contribute to the industry killing practice of piracy, and in turn are planning to play Dark Souls ahead of its release, From Software says go right ahead. Yeah, that’s right, play to your little dishonest heart’s content. Just don’t be at all surprised when your game gets invaded by a maximum level Black Phantom, whose sole purpose is to kill you again, and again, and again.

Utilizing Dark Souls’ game-invading mechanic to their advantage, the folks at From Software are planning to keep pirates in check by sending the most powerful Black Phantoms possible into their games. The guys over at Edge compared one of the invaders’ stats (level 145, 1900HP, and all abilities at the maximum 99) to their reviewers, and they didn’t even come close (level 43, with 1001 HP and abilities ranging from 8 up to 30), even after 60 hours of play.
So, if you enjoy getting your ass handed to you for hours on end, pick up Dark Souls when it releases. If you enjoy getting your ass handed to you by a level 145 Black Phantom, who you actually have no chance against, then play Dark Souls today.
